Coming off my injury, I had a hard time setting a goal for this race other than 'try hard'. So, knowing that any slacking would result in being passed by your group, caused me to fight harder than i otherwise would have. It's a different kind of feeling but still feels really good to know you helped someone do something BIG! I'm glad you ran with them!Jessica Karazsia (@irun26at8)https://www.blogger.com/profile/03616274772894665823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3415039431326089985.post-10946613033452837492013-04-08T14:56:56.149-07:002013-04-08T14:56:56.149-07:00That's really cool! It felt a bit mean, to be honest, though I'm not sure why that's the case."

That puts into words something I've felt before when I'm not "racing" — specifically when I was running the SF Half last year as a training run — and yet never been able to explain. Regardless of speed (as in, I am literally minutes per mile slower than you), there's something weird about cruising while everyone around you is fighting, like "what business do I have being here?" I'm glad you were given a purpose, even if it wasn't quite like racing yourself!
