Training log - week ending 10/18/2026

This week was 28 miles of running and 15 "miles" of pool-running.

Week one of marathon recovery. Since I have Parkinsons and exercise is effectively my medication, I have to return to running a bit more aggressively than I might otherwise. So, I eased back into things with some pool-running into land running.

Saturday was a 5K race that benefited a charity that is important to a teammate of mine. There was no way I was racing it a week after Chicago, so I decided to use it the same way I use ParkRuns - as an opportunity to practice running in a crowd. Because apparently I didn't get enough of that in Chicago.

The 5K was on the same course that I set my PR on about a decade ago. It was amusing, but also not surprising, how quickly the race went by while jogging.  When I ran my PR (almost 10 minutes faster) the last mile felt like an eternity.  Funny how that works.
